FAQ
Do I need a password? No — every link is a magic link valid for 7 days.
What happens if my cert expires? You (and whoever hired you) will see it turn red in the next update, and critical alerts are sent immediately.
What's "Contract Administration & Work Orders"? An optional set of screens — Projects, Contracts and Providers in their own Contract Admin menu, plus Contract rules under Settings — for businesses running formal domestic building contracts, subcontracting, or head-contract work. It's off by default — most trades never need it — and switching it on or off from Settings → Business never deletes anything already logged.
What's the difference between a Provider and a Client? A Client is who you're contracting with as head contractor. A Provider is the reverse — an external head contractor who's engaged you as their subcontractor. A contract only ever has one or the other, never both.
Where do I upload a subcontractor's trade agreement template? From the Subcontractors page, under "Subcontractor agreement templates" — one blank PDF per trade. It only unlocks for a subcontractor to sign once every required certificate for their trade is on file.
Is a typed subcontractor e-signature actually legally binding? It's a genuine, timestamped, auditable electronic signature — the same underlying mechanism used for a variation sign-off or a payment-claim approval. It isn't identity-verified, though: anyone holding the onboarding link can type any name. Treat it as appropriate for routine subcontractor agreements, and use the Signatory field and your own judgement for anything higher-stakes.
A subcontractor signed with the wrong name, or the wrong person signed — now what? Void it (either of you can, from their onboarding link or their detail page in the app), give a short reason, and they can sign again from scratch. The original signature and the reason it was voided both stay in the audit log — nothing is silently lost.
Where do uploaded photos and documents go? Google Drive, via whichever account is connected under Settings → Business. A project can have its own destination folder for its records; everything else uses the business-wide one. See "Document storage (Google Drive)" for the full picture.
What happens if Google Drive isn't connected? Uploads still save — you just won't get a document link, and you'll see a message pointing you to System status. Nothing is silently lost.
Can a client see the rest of my business through their portal link? No. It only ever shows their own contract(s) with you — never other clients, other projects, or anything else in your Tradies Bureau.
Are the Contract Administration rules legally verified? Not yet. Every rule ships marked Unverified until a construction lawyer checks it, editable any time at Settings → Contract rules without needing a redeploy. Treat the built-in due dates as a strong starting point, not legal advice, until they're signed off.
